RatPack Intro:

Yewwwwwww >> there are a few ways to travel down the east coast and by bus is one of the best! The Greyhound offer hop on hop off passes around Australia and when it comes to ease, value and comfort these are the one - they literally do what they say on the tin, you can hop on hop off the bus all the way down the coast! Did you know that it is a longgggg 4000 kilometres from Cairns to Melbourne? Australia is MASSIVE! With the Greyhound Hop On Hop Off passes, you can get on and off as many times as you like, as long as you continue to travel in one direction.

If you like a little bit of luxury, the Greyhound offers ultimate comfort as there are reclining seats, free onboard wifi {hold tight}, USB chargers per seat, a toilet onboard and usually from our experience the drivers are absolute banter boys.

Using the Hop On Hop Off from Cairns to Melbourne you will be able to see all sweet spots including:

  • Cairns - The Great Barrier Reef
  • Mission Beach - the home of the beach skydive!
  • Townsville - the entrance to the beauty Maggie Island
  • Airlie Beach - the gateway to the Whitsundays
  • Hervey Bay, Rainbow Beach, Noosa - how you can get to the sandy island of Fraser Island
  • Brisbane - the home of Australia Zoo
  • Byron Bay - the ultimate surf town and the home of RatPack Travel babyyyyyy
  • Sydney - The legendary unofficial capital of Oz!
  • Canberra - the actual capital of Oz {did you know that?}
  • Melbourne - coffee and hipster central

How does it work?

In a nutshell: TOOOO EASY

Once you’ve paid for your pass we’ll send you over your unique booking number and pin to log in online and book your buses. It’s super easy to pre-book your buses, just pop in the date and where you want to go from and to and confirm! We are the first ones to say that sometimes plans change and the beauty of Greyhound is you can cancel your buses easily.

Arrive at the bus stop 15 minutes before your bus is scheduled to leave {the address is on your ticket} and have a copy of your ticket {either printed or on your phone is fine!} and also your ID.

Jump on the bus after checking in with the driver and putting your case on board and its time to CHILL - do your thing and either watch netflix, catch up on sleep, read or write about your adventures from place to place. {we’re not gonna lie.. We have been very hungover on a lot of Greyhounds before!}. Once you are at your next location, jump off and sometimes if your lucky, your hostel will provide a shuttle bus to the hostel, if not get google maps up and get walking!

What can I bring:

Your luggage

You can bring bikes and surfboards for an extra charge
