RatPack Intro:

No visit to Cairns is complete without taking a trip out onto one of the seven wonders of the world, the Great Barrier Reef. These guys from Down Under Cruise & Dive have created an awesome package where you will see the reef and the epic Daintree Rainforest and Cape Tribulation.

These guys have a brand new boat; Evolution, which is one of the fastest Great Barrier Reef day trips designed to get you to the reef quickly to ensure you have maximum snorkelling or diving time! This boat takes you to two outer reef locations, Saxon reef (or Norman reef) and Hastings reef, where you’ll get around 5 hours of snorkelling time. These spots are expertly selected to ensure you visit the best spots where you’ll find an array of incredible marine life & coral, you won’t be fighting with the crowds in these protected spots!

Snorkeller? Diver? Straight out newbie? No problem! This boat is perfect for all of any ability, for newbies to snorkelling, the legendary guides will give you an intro to snorkelling and will even take you out on a guided snorkelling tour of the reef to get you started! If you have never scuba dived before and fancy trying it out for the first time then pre book an Intro Dive - they will provide all the equipment and tuition - an intro dive will give you 20 - 30mins to discover the reef & you'll go to a maximum depth of 10 metres! You do not need any prior experience! Certified divers can buddy up with a friend or join the guides as they push the limits and explore the amazing views of the reef. Under the surface in this incredible underwater world you’ll have the opportunity to see turtles, reef sharks (don’t worry - they won’t bite!), nemos and many tropical colourful fish, take your GoPro with you or keep an eye out for the boats photographer to capture those magical moments. {RatPack Tip: be one of the first into the water to see turtles!} If you are intrigued by the marine life and want to know more, the knowledgeable onboard marine biologist can take you on an eco tour of the reef to educate you on what you are seeing and even take you on a semi submersible tour! Fancy seeing the reef from above? You’ll have the option of taking a scenic helicopter flight over the reef for an additional cost, you can find out more info about these onboard the Evolution.

All this mermaid fun and excitement is hungry work and between reefs you’ll be treated to an amazing hot bbq lunch with salads served up by the friendly down under crew! These guys don’t just snorkel and provide banter throughout the day, they are also born entertainers and will perform a selection of songs for you as you cruise back to Cairns and enjoy some complimentary cheese & wine, we can think of worse ways to spend a day!

On Day 2 the guys at The Adventure Company will take you on an awesome journey through the region and will show you some of the most beautiful spots. You’ll drive along one of the most epic coastal drives to visit the town of Port Douglas, go on a guided walk through the stunning Mossman Gorge National Park where there are crystal clear waters that go through the lush tropical rainforest and then head up through the Daintree Rainforest to get to Cape Tribulation. Whilst you are in Cape Tribulation you’ll have the opportunity to chill on the world famous Cape Tribulation beach - where rainforest meets reef, enjoy the beautiful sandy beaches and hang out under a palm tree. You’ll also get to go on a wildlife cruise of the Daintree River, keep an eye out for those crocs though as this is where they live {they aren’t joking when they say keep your arms and legs in the boat at all times!}.... There is so much wildlife to spot whilst in this region, look out for the cassowaries, tree kangaroos, spiders and crocodiles! We love this trip because it hits up two of the most awesome spots northern queensland has to offer, it has a chilled vibe, the options of seeing the reef by air or sea and you get the maximum amount of time out on the reef with lots of space to relax in the air conditioned lounges or up on the deck, the friendly crew on the evolution will ensure you get the most of your day and enjoy the true beauty of the Great Barrier Reef! The guys at Adventure Company will make sure you see all the best spots with lots of photo opportunities and WOW moments. Don’t forget to take your camera and get some amazing shots of some of Queensland’s beautiful spots! When you visit you’ll see why it’s one of Sir David’s fave spots.

Sam was recommended to us by a friend after we needed some advice about renting a campervan and turned out to be the most helpful guy we've met so far. He wrote out a whole calendar guideline for us, gave us ideas for trips (some with his discounts!!) and told us about all the things ..
