Tour Info

Magnetic Island is the ultimate island escape for backpackers, island lovers & explorers. Just a 25 minute ferry from Townsville you’ll find the paradise of Maggie, we love this island for a lot of reasons and this package has everything you need to get you over to the island and enjoy it! In this package we’ve sorted your return ferry transfer as well as 3 nights of air conditioned dorm accommodation at the Base hostel, you’ll also get breakfast & dinner vouchers and a welcome drink upon arrival!

This island gives us serious island vibes and the perfect place to kick back and relax on a secluded beach with the perfect spots to snorkel in. We think the perfect way to explore the island is to rent a 4wd topless jeep AKA the topless pink barbie cars... get your pals together and hit the road - #ratpackroadie style! {Rental cars can be organised from Base Magnetic Island} Cruise around the island and explore 26 gorgeous bays, grab a snorkel and look for turtles and manta rays, check out the rock wallabies at Geoffrey Bay {RatPack tip - best time to see them is 4-6pm and they like to eat banana skins}, hit up the forts walk and see wild koalas hanging out in the trees! West point is the best place to grab some beers and watch the sunset after a day exploring the island.

Base Magnetic Island has been voted the best hostel in Australia numerous times and when you stay there you’ll see why! Located right on the beach, this place has a real tropical feel to it, chill out by the pool, relax on a hammock, grab some cocktails from the bar and hang on the bean bags looking out at the sea. We’ve had some awesome nights at Base Magnetic, this great team put on events every night and will get you involved in boozy bingo, hot wings challenge, trivia night and beer pong!

{RatPack Recommends}

  • Hire a topless jeep or a topless barbie car and explore the island
  • Take part in Boozy Bingo on a monday night
  • Walk the forts walk to spot wild koalas
  • Feed the rock wallabies at dusk
  • Snorkel at Arthur Bay to see tropical fish and rays
  • Look for the abandoned beach piano at Radical Bay
  • See the sunset at West Point
