The Whitsundays is located off the coast of Airlie Beach on the East Coast of Oz. The Whitsundays is made up of 74 tropical islands and is located between the mainland and the Great Barrier Reef which makes it PERFECT for snorkelling! The sailing trip includes a visit to the swirling sands of Hill Inlet and the world-famous Whitehaven beach (voted on numerous occasions as the world’s BEST beach).

There are 74 islands within the Whitsundays and a sailing tour around these islands will give you the most amazing views and access to beaches and reef only accessible by boat! This 2 day 2 night tour departs from Airlie Beach, and you’ll have an awesome few days sailing through the Whitsunday islands full of so many activities including a 8m waterslide, snorkelling and a diving board to show off your skills and give Tom Daley a run for his money! You’ll see all of the top sites and of course a key highlight of the trip is going to the most Instagram-able beach in the world – Whitehaven Beach, this place is the definition of INCREDIBLE and you’ll be wowed at how stunning it is in real life. You’ll have plenty of time to chill out at Whitehaven, enjoy the 100% silica sand and crystal clear water, look out for the manta rays and your crew will take you on a guided bush walk up to hill inlet lookout where you will see ‘THE’ view << trust us this ones a beautyyyyyyy.
Snorkel at North Hook, the best diving and snorkelling around! Look for some amazing species of fish and marine life including the parrot fish, bat fish, cuttlefish, giant clams and clownfish. Not into snorkelling? No worries! There are plenty of other activities such as the waterslide and the diving platform, or if you fancy some chill time, relax up on the massive sun deck on the beanbags with a nice cold drink {not a bad life!}.. There will plenty of other opportunities to see the local wildlife as there is a pod of dolphins who try and get in on the New Horizon action on 8/10 trips, there is even the opportunity to see humpbacks whales whilst they are migrating (July – Sept).
The New Horizo is an absolute legendary boat and if you are up for a lot of banter, day long bevvys, hilarious crew, and making unreal memories, this tour is perfect for you! You’ll be looked after by the incredibly friendly crew from the New Horizon team and all of your meals are prepared and cooked for you by the onboard chef so you can kick back and relax. I had a call with Ryan who was super nice, knowledgable and made me feel really at ease with making my decision. He asked me all about what I want to do and achieve on my trip, although I didn’t really want to pack too much in… nor gave much detail on what I want to do, he gave options and ideas for me to look into. He used his own experience as an example which was really helpful to hear and made me feel like I’m right at home with RatPack, I knew then I was making the right choice by talking to him. He answered any questions I had, even if they seemed like silly questions to ask. The booking process is really easy and straight forward, they do all the hard parts for you. Once Ryan talked me through my options, I made my selection and all I had to do was enter my card details for the deposit and I was done! Thanks to Ryan’s detailed and calm approach I knew I was booking with the right company/team. I can’t wait for the next step!!
George has been amazing. He put together the costings for our trip, and then I changed the dates completely and he redid everything and said it wasn’t a problem. I felt that he worked hard to get me the best deal, advised me which pickup town was the best deal, when was the best time to travel, and how I could save money by adding a day to our trip (yes, it was cheaper to go for 21 days than go for 20!). George sent through mountains of advice on travel destinations, camping sites etc. I would definitely recommend RatPack Travel and George.

Itinerary:
Day 1: Meet your crew at 1:30pm at the marina and get ready to sail!! You’ll head off and cruise around the beautiful Whitsundays islands whilst you get to know the rest of the legends on board, kick back with a beer or 3 and enjoy the views. The crew onboard will cook you an epic dinner and provide you with bants and entertainment for the evening!!
Day 2: Wake up and take a bush walk up to the 4th most photographed location in Australia. Gaze down on the 7km of pure white silica sand of Whitehaven Beach. Sunbathe/swim on the beautiful beach for a couple of hours. Head back to the boat for a snorkel/dive at one of our pristine dive/snorkel locations in and around North Hook, then sit down in the spacious galley for a sumptuous lunch, freshly prepared by crew. Our extensive permit allows us to go to all top locations in the Whitsundays. Spend the afternoon with friends slipping / sliding / spa’ing / swimming/sloshing and sunning or just sit and enjoy the view on our comfy bean bags. Get on board for some evening drinks and prep yourself for your delicious dinner. Let our crew show you how we like to have fun on the top deck, or chill out with a cold one in the air-conditioned galley with our board games. Fall into bed for a good kip before our final day tomorrow…
Day 3: The crew will wake you up to have a yummy breaky before you begin your last day of sailing. Sail to another beautiful snorkel/dive spot and splish/splash/spa/slide and dive for some final fun on the New Horizon head home, for a final briefing and then spruce yourself up for a night (with any crew on land) for the after party.
Where to leave your main bag:
Please note backpacks with zips cannot be taken onboard, ONLY ZIPLESS BAGS will be allowed on board. The reason for this is that bed bugs can often be carried via zips on bags for this reason it is best that they do not enter the boat.
Your main bag can be stored at the ABC Travel shop in Airlie Beach and you can purchase a zipless bag (if you don’t have one) at the ABC store also.You only need to pack enough clothes for the 2 days and 2 nights : )

- Light clothing – Evenings in winter can be chilly, days are hot. Summer is hot and sometimes wet.
